General Comment The mitochondrial F1F0-ATP synthase uses energy derived from a proton gradient to synthesize ATP. The structure of this complex has been referred to as a 'lollipop,' as the soluble F1 catalytic unit is attached to the mitochondrial inner membrane via the F0 unit. F0 subunit 9 transports protons across the mitochondrial inner membrane to the F1-ATPase.Three proteins, designated e, f, and g, copurify with the F1F0 subunits, but are peripherally associated with the membrane or the stalk. The functions of these proteins are unknown
